About
The Reading Octagon collects the books mentioned on The Joe Rogan Experience and gives each book its own page: every episode it came up in, who brought it up, roughly when, and a link to the source.

Not affiliated
The Reading Octagon is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Joe Rogan, The Joe Rogan Experience, or its producers or distributors. The podcast name is used only to describe where each book was mentioned.
How we source this
Mentions are found in public sources: the official episode descriptions in the podcast's RSS feed and public episode transcripts. Transcripts are scanned for book titles partly with AI-assisted extraction, then matched against book databases (Open Library, Google Books) and filtered by rules and spot checks. That process is not perfect: a title, author, speaker or timestamp can be wrong. If you spot one, please report it.
How the scoring works
- Real mentions only. A book is listed only if a public source backs it up, usually the official episode description in the podcast's RSS feed or a public transcript. Each mention links to its source.
- Mentioned by is the host, the guest, or "Official episode description" when the book is only listed in the show notes.
- Timestamps are approximate and come from transcript segment times for the audio release, which includes ads, so they can be a few minutes off the video. Where an episode has an official YouTube upload, "Watch this moment" opens it at that approximate time.
- Rankings sort by number of episodes, then total mentions, then how recently the book came up.
- Weight classes go by page count (flyweight under 200 pages up to heavyweight at 550+). Page counts come from publisher pages or Open Library and differ between editions.
- Covers come from Open Library, Google Books, Apple Books and Wikipedia, and are served from this site. Books without a cover get a typographic placeholder.
